Welcome to 2011!

To all Monties runners: This year will be an exciting one for us and hold a couple of changes for everyone part of the Bonitas Mont-aux-sources challenge. Hopefully these will help us to create an even better event and we do apologise if it’s going to cause a bit of frustration and inconvenience initially.

Our aim is to streamline our online entry system and waiting list system to help us be more efficient and give everyone a fair chance in taking part in this amazing event!

Some changes for 2011:

• Kim Faure will no longer be the event organiser on this event and Monties will therefore be organised internally by the Wild Series and KZN Wildlife teams. We wish to thank Kim for her amazing work over the past few years; she will be dearly missed as she truly left some huge footsteps for us to fill!
• All mails, requests or complaints must therefore be send to Heidi Mocke at heidim@wildlands.co.za
• We will no longer apply the 5 year rule (where you have 5 years to run Monties 3 times in order to receive your permanent number). This has caused huge problems with our waiting list and also with our online entry system. Everyone that ran last year will once again receive an entry for 2011.
• If you are currently on 5 year cycle and did not run last year, and you are still interested in receiving your green number please send me an email
• All runners from 2011 onwards will have the choice to run Monties as many times as they like consecutively (3 runs will result in a permanent number). If you choose not to run or cannot run you will go back on the waiting list and the next person on the waiting list will be allocated your spot
• Each year there is a drop off rate of between 20 – 30% of runners, which means each year there will be new entrants from the waiting list that will get the opportunity to run

Waiting list:

• We have about 1200 people on the waiting list, but allot of these email addresses and contact details are outdated
• If you are already on the waiting list you will be required to contact us asap to
• confirm that you are still on the list and to confirm your details,
• so that we can know that you are still interested and keep you on the list. This will help us to keep the list current and to give everyone the fair opportunity once an entry opens

Please email Heidi on heidim@wildlands.co.za and confirm the following:

• Name and surname
• Email address
• Tel number
• When you first applied to be on the waiting list so we can locate you
• We will then confirm your waiting list position and be in contact from then onwards. If we do not hear from you, you will be scrapped from the current list.

To summarise:

• All runners from 2010 will therefore receive an invite to 2011
• All runners that are currently on the waiting list or want to be on the waiting list must contact us asap, so that we can either update/confirm your status on the waiting list or add you to it

Invites for 2011 will be send out beginning May and will be done via online entry system. All 2010 runners will have until end May to enter. (If you do not enter during this time you will lose your entry) Beginning June we will start sending invitations to the candidates on the waiting list to fill any available spots.
The entry fee will not change from last year, but your entry fee (R700) and compulsory donation (R400) will have to be paid at the same time. You will have the option of paying as you enter online or as an EFT payment after you entered.
